2018 Road Trip With My Parents A Day In Las Vegas

It’s the third day of the 2018 road trip with my parents and we spent the day in Laz Vegas for my mom’s Birthday! We started the day with the breakfast buffet at the Wynn and I wish I had more of an appetite because there was a ridiculous amount of amazing food. My parents said they enjoyed their meals, my dad managed to try quite a bit more of the selection than me and my mom. After brunch at the Wynn, we strolled up and down the strip a bit but it was a pretty hot day and my parents could only handle so much walking. So after we watched the water show at the Bellagio, we took a cab back to the Stratosphere.

Without going into too much detail, let’s just say that I would NEVER suggest anyone stay at the Stratosphere, which is ashamed. My first visit to Vegas, many years ago, I stay at the Stratosphere and had a great stay, which is why I returned the time. But after a terrible experience when I checked into the hotel combined with a few other issues, I won’t ever stay there again. That being said, the observation deck and rides are well worth it in my opinion.

So back to the rest of our day, after we arrived back to the Stratosphere, we took a short break in our rooms and then made our way up to the observation deck. Much like the Grand Canyon, my mom’s fear of heights got the best of her and she didn’t take in the views as much as my dad and I did. After spending some time taking in the sights, it was time for me to check off another item from my bucket list! Bucket list item #394 “Go on rides on top of Stratosphere” is officially done! You may not be able to tell from the video, but I do have a fear of heights, and my heart was beating out of my chest with every drop of that coaster!

When we finished our visit to the top of the tower we returned to our rooms to get dressed for my mom’s Birthday evening. My initial plan was to get tickets to Cirque du Soleil the Beatles but unfortunately, it was already sold out when I booked our trip. So we opted for Criss Angel, which was a great show! As you probably noticed in the video, we only have a few photos from that experience because they didn’t allow any photography in there at all and they were very strict about it. I lucked out on the seats though because we were only a few rows from the stage and my parents really enjoyed the show.

By the time the show was done, it was getting late and we wanted to grab some dinner to close out the celebration of my mom’s Birthday! Turns out, there weren’t too many places open, so we just selected a restaurant in Luxor. Once we finished up our dinner returned to our hotel so we could get some sleep because the following day it was time to drive to San Francisco!
